Why is the Glenn used by Bretons sailors?
The Glenn is a traditional technical knife used by Breton sailors. Made from recycled fishing nets, it has an elongated handle for a good grip as well as a 2.5mm blade made of MA5 martensitic stainless steel. The safety notch has also been designed so that it can be used safely even on one's boat.
Can one personalize their Glenn?
Obviously, giving an original gift has never been so simple! The Glenn knife can be personalized directly on the website. Have your dad's first name, an important date, or even the name of his boat engraved. The personalization is done directly on the website where you can choose the engraving of your choice.
Engraving ideas...
A first name or nickname, GPS coordinates, a boat name, a date... Or a text in Breton:
Da garan Tad/Mamm (I love you, Dad/Mom)
Da Viken ma kalon (Forever my heart)
Evit ar vignoniezh (to our friendship)
Yecʼhed mat! (Cheers!)
Why is each Glenn unique?
On one hand, each Glenn knife has an identification number on its blade. This takes the form of a boat registration number and indicates the origin port of the fishing nets used in its manufacture. On the other hand, scallop shells are integrated into the handle during manufacturing. Therefore, no Glenn knife handle is identical to another.
"And the blade...?
The Glenn is a technical knife created for fishing sailors. The blade thickness is 2.5mm. We use high-performance MA5 steel that we additionally treat with cryogenization, which allows it to resist corrosion much more when in contact with seawater. To keep it impeccable for life, we recommend wiping the blade with a cloth after use and sharpening it with a stone at a 20° angle.
